Part I. Theoretical part
“I want to try not to repeat myself. But then I seem to do it continuously in my films. It’s not something I make any effort to do. I just want to make lms that are personal, but interesting to an audience. I feel I get criticized for style over substance, and for details that get in the way of the characters. But every decision I make is how to bring those characters forward.” – Wes Anderson.
The theme I chose for my final project may seem understaffed because choosing a film director as the center of it is something a little outside my discipline but you will feel the personal connection with the independent American director Wes Anderson films.
Wes Anderson goes further, he has de capability of introduce you in a theatre world, but if you take his pastel filter you can feel the real life. Before I analyzed his stories and characters I began with a research of his referents in the history of cinema and I found one of his main inspirations, François Truffaut.
Every film he has done narrows a different story but we find the same problems of a dysfunctional family. Love triangles, adults who do not want to grow up, or the necessity to escape to have an adventure always followed by friends or family. Also the fact that every character has a costume that identifies their personality and identity are a important element for the project.
I have focused on the connection I found in these dreamy, nostalgic and emotional characters.
